I am the data engineer curating data sources from bronze (raw) to gold (curated and published) standards. I am the BI developer building the systems that sit on top of that data and make it usable. I am the data scientist building automations and AI pipelines in the background. Truth be told, I am a contractor that provides solutions to big data problems.
Data Product Engineering
Data product engineering is centered on taking raw, fragmented data and turning it into curated, reliable datasets that can be used across an organization. I work with big enterprise data—just like everyone else’s—messy and siloed. I work across multiple data sources to engineer data from bronze (raw) to gold (published) standards, ensuring consistency, quality, and usability at each stage. I am an enabler, crafting the structured datasets for an organization to democratize data for all their employees.
Analytics Platforms and BI Systems Development
The analytics platform an organization chooses is just one tool in a larger ecosystem where data lives. I build data ingestion pipelines across these systems and combine them into applications that actually get used. I curate the data products that feed business intelligence systems and make the data usable. The systems I build are used by thousands of users each month, supporting real operational decisions. Usage matters. If people are not using the system, it does not work. I build popular systems that generate value.
Data Modernization
Many organizations are still running on legacy systems, static reports, and disconnected data sources. This is ineffective in today’s era where cloud computing, cloud storage, and data warehouses are the standard. I am an executor in this process. As a technical operator, I move an organizations data from legacy storage and types to modern cloud platforms. I take data in disparate forms and engineer them into usable data products. I then turn those products into applications that take a team from “I wish I could see this…” to “Damn, I didn’t know data could be sexy.”
Harnessing Generative AI
Today, everyone can say they harness AI. We log onto ChatGPT and ask it questions. That is just dipping in your toes. As a Data Scientist, I understand the models on a builder level. I structure the curated datasets for proper AI usage. When I build a system to leverage a machine learning algorithm, I do so with the understanding of the mechanical assumptions the model relies on. When I use AI to fill in the gaps of association tables between thousands of pdf files, I use my experience to avoid hallucinations and deterministic methods to verify accuracy. Do not trust the LLM, trust the data scientist leveraging it through a deeper understanding.

A data scientist with a passion for uncovering insights from complex datasets. I graduated with a MS in Data Science, from Middle Tennessee State University, TN 2024. Prior to my academic journey, I had the honor of serving in the US Army, where I developed invaluable leadership skills and a keen attention to detail.
With a strong foundation in data science, I have contributed to published papers, presented at conferences, and undertaken various projects as a graduate research assistant. I recently completed a Data Scientist Internship with 3Z Brands, where I led a project to model counterfactuals for previously implemented promotions. Through this project, I worked directly with stakeholders to model multiple brands (5) promotion counterfactuals and provide insights on promotion effectiveness. These results have impacted the marketing strategy for future promotion windows. My diverse experiences have allowed me to cultivate expertise in extracting meaningful patterns from data and translating them into actionable insights.
Ever since I began this program, I have found a passion for learning and exploring the newest technologies in the field. I have been exploring the use of generative AI tools such as Chatgpt since the week it went public and have completed multiple projects using OpenAI’s API platform.
